Big Boy Bed

Father's Day weekend was a Big weekend for Holden. He said "good-bye" to the changing table (and "hello again" floor, where he's insisted on diaper changes for a couple months anyway), "good-bye" to the high chair and "hello" to the booster seat and "good-bye" crib and "hello" Big Boy Bed. Part of all these transistions are just a part of life, and part are in further preparation for Operation Baby Drop: The Sequel. Holden seemed very excited about all the changes, which was a relief because it's never nice to be evicted. He was especially excited to have a pillow, as his best friend Hippo has been the stand in for a while now.

Here's one of Holden's last nights sleeping in his crib:

Big Boy on a Big Bed:

The transitions are bittersweet. There is so much we're looking forward to doing with Holden as he gets older, but sometimes, we just miss the littleness that he was. When we first put him in his crib he was just dwarfed. Lately, we stand at night and watch him sleep, marveling at how long he is, taking up most of the crib. Glad, though, that all the love, sweat and hard work Kevin put into building the crib will still pay off and one more Nix kid will spend many nights sleeping in it (hopefully, past 5:30 a.m.!) for a couple years to come.
