The day began with a Skype call to the boys back home. Not the best quality, but fun to see them. We had breakfast, packed up and headed out with Fernando at 10:30 a.m. for the nearly five-hour drive to Manuel Antonio.
The roads are not the best quality in most places, and very windy. I slept more than I would’ve liked, but couldn’t help it. Fernando stopped in a little town at a “soda,” and we had our best meal yet. I had a pork chop covered in grilled onions and Kevin had chicken. They came with rice, beans, salad, a plaintain, boiled potatoes and a homemade tortilla. Amazing.
The El Parador Hotel is a beautiful resort on a peninsula bordered by the Pacific Ocean and covered with rainforest. It is luxurious and I never want to leave. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Toucans right outside our balcony.
We hung out at the pool and drank mojitos and “Miami Vices” (aka Lavaflows) before going to the bar for happy hour for more mojitos and guayaras and an order of nachos. It was a nice, relaxing afternoon and evening. Looking forward to more.
