Costa Rica: Day 9

July 24, 2011

Our fatal flaw last night was leaving the door open. There was such a gentle breeze and we’d had it open for hours with no problem. Around midnight, though, the buzzing of attacking mosquitos woke us up. We spent the next couple of hours swatting at them and hiding from them under the sheets before giving up and getting up at 2:30 a.m. We cashed in our free breakfast at Denny’s at 3 a.m. and caught the 4 a.m. shuttle to the airport. We’re waiting to board our one-hour flight to San Salvador and our connecting flight (with an upgrade to Business Class!) right now. Kevin is fighting his eyelids nobly.

A layover in San Salvador, and we had our third of four breakfasts of the morning.... because you can't go to San Salvador and not eat Pupusas! Our upgrade on the flight was dampened by the twin 5-year-old boys seated behind us - sons of the flight attendant. No sleep to be had.

In Costa Rica, when someone says "gracias," the traditional reply is "con mucho gusto" (with great pleasure). We found it to be such a touching and warm way to respond, and quickly adapted it ourselves. So, it is con mucho gusto that we shared our dream vacation with you and hope you enjoyed it!

Pura Vida.
