Sharktooth

Thanks to everyone for their support, warm wishes and advice on what to do with Riley, aka "Shark Boy."

We had a check-up with the dentist Thursday and she said it looks like the nerves in the teeth weren't damaged and the teeth that remain are still strong. She told us Riley was among the "unlucky lucky" - a phrase I've pondered since and realize is really appropriate for many of our situations.

The bottom line is that, to cap or bond the jagged little teeth, would require anesthesia/sedation and a strait-jacket type of thing. Basically, trauma and drama. So her advice that we are taking is to just leave it and let nature take it's course when he's 5 or 6 years old and the teeth fall out anyway.

The only complication is the one tooth that actually broke and pushed back into his gums. If that doesn't erupt on its own, it might get infected and need to be removed. We're keeping our fingers crossed and hope our poor luck remains lucky!
