What seemed like a long time ago, in a totally different galaxy, there lived two people. Let's call them Other Denise and Other Kevin. The Others were like many Others: they ate when they wanted - even having dinner in restaurants after dark - they slept until they weren't tired and had conversation in which whole sentences went entirely uninterrupted. But along came Kids, and the Others became Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad sometimes had distant memories of the Others, but they were visions like an oasis in a parched desert.
But once in awhile, the Others have the chance to return. Recently, the Others came back two different times, thanks to the Grandmas and Grandpas (who were once Others, before becoming Moms and Dads, only to morph back into Others after about 18 years).
During these brief encounters with their former identities, Other Denise and Other Kevin attended two concerts - one was John Mayer at the Hollywood Bowl and the other was the Police at Dodger Stadium. While being the Others, Other Denise and Other Kevin remembered what it was like to eat at a relaxed pace, enjoy the warm night air, good music and adult conversation. On one such occasion, they were joined by Other Jami and Other Josh, with whom they had not spoken with without someone asking to go potty or for milk in at least a year.
The opportunity to be Other Denise and Other Kevin was refreshing and needed. They discussed ways to incorporate the Others into their life on a more regular basis and agreed it was like finding themselves again.
Then the Kids returned, and the Others disappeared. Where, oh where, have they gone?
