Riley: Ten Months

Riley...

...Has stopped crawling the majority of the time like an army man, and now gets around in a traditional crawl.

...Likes to follow the kitty; when he gets to her, he taps her and says, "AAAHHH!"

...Laughs like crazy.

...Still nurses to sleep most nights.

...Claps or flaps his hands on demand.

...Says a soft, "Aaaahhhh" when he claps spontaneously.

...Pulls up to his feet and cruises along the furniture.

...Has just cut his first two teeth.

...Eats peas, carrots, cheese, puffs and bread all by himself.

...Raises his hands over his head when you say, "How big is Riley? So Big!"

...Makes his fingers twinkle like a star when we sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

...Gets into EVERYTHING!

...Plays "Dink," where he brings his nose to touch ours when we say "dink."

...Doesn't like to lie still for diaper changes.

...Enjoys the Gravity Game: Turns out, when you throw toys over the side of the car seat or changing table, they fall to the floor. But he often plays again, just to be sure. And again.

...Wakes up at either 4:21 or 4:38 a.m. every day for a quick feeding, then he usually goes back to sleep.

...Says "aahh" between each bite of food.

...Is learning how to feed himself, and a good percentage of the finger foods actually come pretty close to his mouth.

...Likes to roll toy cars on the floor, and chases after them when he rolls them away.

...Can play independently for some surprisingly long stretches of time.

...Has the softest hair ever.

...Rubs his eyes vigorously with his fists when he's tired.

...Still has a slightly herniated belly button.

...Thinks everything Holden does is fascinating.

...Blows light puffs of air as he goes about his business.

...Only really cries when something is bothering him: hungry, tired, teething, a bonk on the head.

...Likes books with pictures of babies or animals, and uses his hand to lightly pat the pictures.

...Loves to splash in the bath.

...Uses whatever hand is on top while nursing to pull at Mom's nose and stick his fingers inside her mouth.

...Babbles intently.

...Sometimes snorts when he laughs.

...Sounds like he's purring when he's snoring.

...Gives, wet, sloppy, open-mouthed kisses.
