Colorado - Hanging with the Family

More and more, our family "vacations" aren't so much "vacation" in the sense of lounge by the pool with a margarita, but more like run our asses off visiting friends and family, while squeezing in some sightseeing and kiddo activities. We know this going in. And we accept it. Mostly. Don't think I don't dream of the day that I lounge by the pool with a margarita, though!

This summer's big trip was another mecca back to Colorado. We stayed five nights with Aunt Suzie in Colorado Springs, where we ate a lot, visited with family and the kids had a good time getting to know their cousins, Clayton and Rebecca. Colorado Springs is beautiful, and the kids ran around a lot, especially when they spotted bunnies and deer to look after ... or, you know, the occasional bear:

On our first night, we had a big sleepover with a mass bedtime book reading:
Jammies time the next morning:
We have a new cousin! Suzie's other son, Jared, and his girlfriend, Kayla, welcome Brayden just a couple days before our arrival. Great timing! We all got our Baby Fix:

Jared's dog, Harley, so not happy about the new edition:

We goofed around lots:

One evening, after lots and lots of running around the house and with dinner on the grill, I gathered up the kids for a long walk to the park. Despite the thunder threatening to open up the skies on us:
