Multnomah Falls (Oregon Part I)

The two eldest members of The Nix Family were lucky to have a beautiful, fun weekend away from the two youngest members of The Nix Family. (OK, we did miss them ... a bit). Shar and Joe were getting hitched in Hood River, Ore., which is about an hour east of Portland on the Columbia River. We saw an opportunity for peace, amazing landscapes and a good time. And we took it.

We flew in on Thursday and met up with Janeen at the airport. About half-way from the airport to Hood River was Multnomah Falls, billed as one of the longest or most beautiful or most popular or something waterfalls in the U.S. It was all of those things to those of us who live in California and must drive an hour and hike two to see a three-foot trickle come over the rocks.

There was a hike to the top of the waterfall that we started. We saw this sign:
And a while later we saw this one:
No, we didn't see anymore.
