Happy Birthday to Holden

On the morning of Holden's birthday, he awoke squealing: "I'm three! I'm three!" It was very exciting to see how proud he was. At daycare, his teacher, Miss Sylvia, plopped a paper crown on his head and all the kids gathered around as we came in the door. The energy was amazing, they were so excited for him (or the container of chocolate cupcakes I was holding, not sure). Holden was a little overwhelmed, and got his patented little shy smile as he clung to my leg.

His birthday party was on Saturday. He eagerly waited for his friends to come:

Holden blew out the candles all by himself. He was so excited about the cake and the candles while we were planning the party. He showed just the right mixture of humble and gratitude as everyone sang:

Holden changed his shirt after everyone left and took a nap. We jumped into the evening, but Holden began suffering from a bout of Post Birthday Party let-down. He keeps asking when he's going to be four and have a jumper, and didn't want to wear his brown and red shirt because he wanted to save it for the party. We're glad he had a good time.
