Things That Are Liked

Holden definitely has his ideas about what is "in" right now. Some of these phases last (and last and last) for weeks or months at a time. Right now, his favorite thing to do is play guitar. He wakes up in the morning and asks for it. He comes home from daycare and goes right to it. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't demand that we sing the "Hello" song and "Good-bye" song again and again as he plays. These are songs that Teacher Laura plays on her guitar during our Music Rhapsody Toddlers Make Music class, where we've gone once a week since September. The funny thing is, Holden is quite shy in that class, although he has become great at participating and following instructions more recently.

One of his other current obsessions is mac cheese and applesauce. This, is by far, is his favorite meal and he'd eat it all the time if we let him. We limit it, though, to a few dinners a week. He's starting to wean himself off an old favorite, pancakes and waffles for breakfast, so we're hoping he'll move on to some other dinner foods soon! Until then, we're not complaining - figuring it's not the worst food in the world for him to eat, and it's easy to make and get him fed in the narrow time frame between getting home and getting to bed - with some time for guitar in between.
